President Mahama assured that the report will be implemented in a bipartisan manner. He made the point that this would bring together all Ghanaians to move the country forward.
He said this when the committee presented its final report to him on Monday, December 22. “Thank you very much for this beautiful Christmas gift,” Mr Mahama said.

He added, “We chose the committee very carefully…so that when the report comes, it will be non-partisan to make it a bit easier for all of us to come together to move us forward. This report has come at the right time; we will implement it in a bipartisan manner.”
The committee made a number of recommendations, including a review of the powers of the Attorney-General. It wants some of the A-G’s taken away and given to an Ethics Commission to handle cases of corruption.
This, in the view of the committee, is to give the A-G free hands to do “international arbitration and big constitutional cases”.
Presenting the final report to President John Dramani Mahama on Monday, December 22, Chair of the Committee Prof H Kwasi Prempeh said that “ORAL will be done by some other body. We want to take some of the powers of the A-G and give them to an Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission.”
The Committee also noted that the four-year presidential term is too short; they are proposing a five-year term.
