Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, has responded to the Minority’s call for a bipartisan probe into the losses made by the Bank of Ghana (BoG) and the GoldBoard in its Gold-for-Reserves programme.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has reported that Ghana’s Gold-for-Reserves programme incurred US$214 million in losses between January and September 2025, mainly due to trading losses and GoldBod off-taker fees.

The IMF warned of “significant downside risks” as the programme expands, potentially impacting Ghana’s macroeconomic stability.

The Minority, led by Ofoase-Ayirebi lawmaker, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, on Monday, December 29, 2025, called for the said losses to be probed by Parliament. In a press conference, he called for an adhoc committee to be established to probe the losses.

Reacting to the development, Sammy Gyamfi, in a Facebook post on Monday, December 29, said his outfit is ready for the probe being called by the Minority.

He, however, described the call as a “joke”, juxtaposing the losses the BoG made in its Gold-for-Oil and Gold-for-Reserve Programmes in 2023 and 2024, with that of the supposed amount incurred by the GoldBod in 2025.
