The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) has raided some notorious illegal mining sites at Akyem Abodom in the Kwaebibirim municipality of the Eastern region.
The operation was carried out by the taskforce between 2:30pm and 7pm on Tuesday, December 30, 2025.
During the raids, the Taskforce immobilized 4 x excavators by removing their monitors/control boards due to absence of Lowbed services to convey them from the site.
The team also seized 1 x generator set, 1 x pump action gun with 5 x cartridges.
The Taskforce also burnt several make-shift structures erected by the illegal miners to render the site inoperable.
