Supporters, party cadres, and the national leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have converged on Big Ada in the Ada East District of the Greater Accra Region to commemorate the 44th anniversary of the historic 31st December overthrow of the then Dr Hilla Limann administration.

The event marks the 31st December 1981 coup, led by the late former Head of State, Flight Lieutenant Jerry John Rawlings.

The revolution ushered in the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) administration, which later transitioned into constitutional rule and eventually evolved into the National Democratic Congress.

The commemoration is being held under heightened security, with party faithful from across the country in attendance.

Activities include wreath-laying, solidarity messages, and speeches reflecting on the ideals of probity, accountability, and social justice that underpinned the revolution.
