The Eastern Regional Police Command has closed down the Kukurantumi Ohene Park following altercation between supporters of Port City FC and True Democracy FC during a Division One League match.
The incident occurred on Sunday, January 4, 2025, after the first half of the match when both teams went on recess. At the time, the home side, Port City FC, was leading by one goal to nil.
According to police reports, supporters of both clubs pelted stones at each other, resulting in injuries to some supporters and damage to the windscreen of the bus belonging to True Democracy FC.
Police reinforcement operations were deployed to the area and successfully dispersed the feuding supporters.
The away team, together with their supporters, was rescued and escorted out of Kukurantumi through Osiem to Tema.
Calm has since been restored to the area.
The police say the stadium has been closed down until further notice to allow for further investigations, assuring the public that perpetrators will be brought to justice.
No arrests have been made yet.
