President John Dramani Mahama has reiterated his government’s commitment to review the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS) to improve the welfare and benefits of workers across the country.

The President said the move forms part of broader efforts to ensure fair compensation and better working conditions for public sector workers, particularly teachers.

He gave the assurance while addressing delegates at the 7th Quadrennial National Delegates Conference of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) in Accra on January 5.

“Everybody was happy, Tier 2, Tier 3, and it looks like the time has come for us to look at

it again, and so again, TUC, as a leader of organized labor, raised it with us, and I told Comrade Joshua and his team that we’re prepared to put together a working team to look at the whole pension reform and come up with some suggestions and see how we can improve it so that everybody is happy and feels secure going into retirement, and a safe and secure working environment is a must,” the President said.

President Mahama was responding to concerns raised by the President of GNAT, Reverend Isaac Owusu, who called on government to review the Single Spine Pay Policy before the end of the year.

According to Reverend Owusu, a timely review of the policy would significantly enhance the salaries and overall conditions of service of workers.

In response, President John Dramani Mahama assured teachers and workers that his administration is ready to review the policy without delay.

In a related development, the Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, announced that government will also review the three-tier pension scheme to improve benefits for retirees.

To further enhance the welfare of retirees, President Mahama pledged his government’s strong commitment to ensuring a comprehensive review of pension policies to guarantee secure and dignified retirement for workers.
