The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has started a comprehensive review of its performance in the Ashanti Region during the 2024 general elections as part of plans to consolidate gains and strengthen the party ahead of the 2028 polls.
The review exercise, held on Monday, January 5, 2026 at the forecourt of the Regional Party Office in Kumasi, was chaired by the National Chairman of the party, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, as part of his ongoing working tour of the region.
The review meeting brought together the Ashanti Regional Chairman, regional executives, zonal leaders, constituency executives, and other key party stakeholders.

During the review meeting, outstanding party members were recognised and awarded for their contributions to the party’s performance in the region.
Their discussions focused on assessing strengths and challenges from the 2024 electoral cycle, strengthening party structures, deepening internal unity, and positioning the NDC for greater success in the next elections.
The National Chairman’s visit to the Ashanti Region forms part of the party’s broader strategy to enhance consultation, deepen collaboration, and align priorities to improve effective governance and party organisation.

As part of his itinerary, Mr. Asiedu Nketia paid a courtesy call on the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, at the Regional Coordinating Council in Kumasi.
The meeting provided an opportunity for discussions on governance, regional development, and cooperation between political leadership and state institutions.
Mr Asiedu Nketia said, the visit underscores the NDC’s commitment to constructive engagement, inclusive dialogue, and unity of purpose as it positions itself to contribute meaningfully to national development.
The engagement is also expected to reinforce internal party cohesion in the Ashanti Region, considered a key political stronghold, while fostering collaboration with stakeholders to advance the socio-economic development of the region.
The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Party Andrew Augustus Nana Akwasi, appealed to the party supporters to rally behind the government to realize its manifesto campaign promises made to the people of Asanteman.
” Now, majority of Ghanaians are impressed with our performance as a ruling party. This is because of the drastic measures we have all taken as a ruling government to develop the country. I’m using this platform to encourage you the party grassroot, Minister of state, MMDCEs and all government appointees to remain focused. Be ensuring we meet the expectation of Ghanaians” Nana Kwasi admonished the base.
Mr. Asiedu Nketia is expected to hold further meetings with party executives, traditional authorities, and other stakeholders during his stay in the region as part of efforts to promote a shared vision for the development of the Ashanti Region and Ghana.
He reiterated government’s commitment to help develop Ashanti Region.
