A founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, has slammed the leadership of the party over its decision to expel Professor Kwabena Frimpong Boateng from the party.

He has dared the leaders to carry out their intent to cast him out and have some of them to contend with.

This follows the NPP leadership’s decision to invoke relevant provisions in its constitution to commence the necessary processes to expel Prof. Kwabena Frimpong Boateng from the party.

The development is due to comments made by the former Minister of Environment, Science, Innovation and Technology, which the party describes as highly reprehensible and damaging to its values, unity, and integrity.

A Tuesday, January 13, 2026 statement issued by the party and signed by its General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, said said Prof. Frimpong Boateng has described the NPP as a “fake party” in a Monday, January 12, 2026 interview.

He added that the former flagbearer aspirant of the party also revealed in his Channel One interview that he no longer consider himself a member of the NPP, adding that the leadership rigged the last flagbearer race in favour of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

“In the same interview, Professor Frimpong-Boateng made additional disparaging remarks about the party and alleged, among other things, that the party’s 2023 Presidential Primary was rigged in favour of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s presidential candidate for the 2024 general election,” it noted.

The statement added that the party unequivocally rejects Professor Frimpong Boateng’s unfortunate characterisation of the NPP “and firmly denies his baseless and unsubstantiated allegations regarding the conduct of the 2023 Presidential Primary.”

It noted that the said primary had been widely acknowledged by all candidates who participated, as well as by well-meaning members of the Party, as having been conducted in a free, fair, transparent, and credible manner, faithfully reflecting the will of Party delegates.

Reacting to the development in an interview on TV3’s News Central on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe indicated that some of them are ready for the action, saying he agrees with Prof Frimpong-Boateng’s description of the party.

He described the former CEO of the Korle Bu Cardiothoracic Centre as a knowledgeable man with integrity who knows what he says.

“And whoever in NPP now thinks he can sack Frimpong-Boateng should try it. The party is now in the hands of looters. They haven’t performed well. They came to power through thievery, we all know it, and if they’re going to continue to disturb the party, then they should know some of us are ready for them.”
