Newly elected NPP Director of Communications Dennis Miracles Aboagye has defended the election of Kojo Bamba as the party’s First Vice Chairman, following criticism from NDC Deputy General Secretary Mustapha Gbande.
Gbande had criticised the NPP’s decision to elect Bamba, arguing that his past association with political vigilantism projected what he described as a mindset of violence.
Speaking on GhanAkoma on Akoma 87.9 FM, Miracles Aboagye dismissed the concerns raised by Gbande and praised Bamba’s experience and intellect.
According to Miracles Aboagye, “Chairman Bamba’s experience and intellect [are] rare in the NDC.”
He also took aim at Gbande over his comments on Bamba’s election, saying:
“Mustapha Gbande cannot occupy any position in the NPP, he is just afraid and that has influenced his long talk.”
Miracles Aboagye further defended the composition of the NPP’s newly elected national leadership, saying the various executives have qualities that will complement one another.
“NPP has elected leaders who will complement each other.”
His comments were made in response to the criticism from Gbande, who described the election of Bamba as “backward politics” and linked his past association with the Delta Force to concerns about political violence.
Bamba was elected First Vice Chairman of the NPP at the party’s National Delegates Conference in Kumasi on October 3, securing 3,116 votes.
