The Upper East Regional Police Command has arrested a 36-year-old suspected drug dealer at Paga in the Kassena Nankana West District.
The suspect, Tumbana Ane, was arrested with 38 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
A statement issued by the police on Monday, October 5, 2026, said a search at the suspect’s residence led to the discovery of the parcels and other banned substances, including Tramadol.
According to the police, a tunnel was also discovered in his residence which they suspect was being used to conceal the drugs and evade arrest.
Preliminary investigations, the police said, have also established that the suspect allegedly operated brothels at an illegal mining site at Wuru, a suburb of Kayoro in the same district.
The Command said investigations are ongoing to establish the full extent of his activities.
