A founder member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has criticised the Deputy General Secretary of the NPP, Haruna Mohammed over his claim that Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe is never regarded as a founding member of the party.

In an interview with JoyNews on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, Haruna Mohammed asserted that Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe is not a founding member of the NPP.

“People who are founding members of our party are known. There were people who signed on the document at the Electoral Commission. Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe never signed any document. So, please I am the Deputy General Secretary of the party, I am telling you that he is not a founding member of the party,” he stated.

Haruna Mohammed further claimed that Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe is no longer a member of the party because he was suspended in 2016.

“Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe was suspended as a member on March 3, 2016 and again on October 14, 2023, Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe said and I quote ‘I was a member of the NPP until Mahama came into the scene – Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe reveals’,” he added.

“Our party is a party of rules, you cannot tell us that you are no more a member of the party and come and arrogate yourself a founding member,” he concluded.

Reacting to these assertions in an interview on TV3’s Ghana Tonight on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe noted “when people are ignorant I have no time for them.”

He explained that Haruna Mohammed has made similar claim in the past during a live interview but he was vindicated when a party member who handled his founding membership document at the time called in to clarify matters.

“I remember about a year or two ago, he made a similar claim when I was having a discussion and he came on air.

“And a lady called in, a lady called Madam Acquaye, an elderly woman and then made it plain that she was then Secretary to the General Secretary and also worked for then Chairman of the party, B.J Darocha and she handled my founding membership document, myself and lawyer Koku Ziti. She mentioned the two of us,” he remarked.

He urged Haruna Mohammed to say silent because he has no idea about how the party was formed years ago.

“So, whoever spoke when NPP was formed years ago, I don’t know where he was and I don’t even know whether he is even had a relative at all in the party like some of the people that we know, so he should shut up,” Nyaho-Tamakloe noted.

“If I am not a founding member of the party and I am even a street sweeper and I have sympathy for the party, I have every right to talk when the party is going wrong,” Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe stressed.

Haruna Mohammed made the assertions while he was commenting on Dr. Nyaho Nayho-Tamakloe’s disagreement with the party’s decision to expel former Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Prof. Frimpong-Boateng over his comment describing the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as a ‘fake’ party.
