Deputy Managing Director of the Metro Mass Transit Limited, Haroun Apaw Wiredu has provided update on timelines for arrival of its 300 new buses acquired to augment its operations.

Haroun Apaw Wiredu disclosed that a government delegation led by the Deputy Transport Minister has already visited Cairo in Egypt to check on the final branding of the 29-eater Isuzu buses to be shipped to Ghana.

Speaking in an interview on TV3’s Hot Issues, Sunday, January 19, 2026, he noted that the first batch of 100 buses will be in Ghana before the end of February.

“Let me also say thank you to His Excellency the President. The President is committed to retooling our company. The Isuzu bus compact is about 300 buses.

“The supply system has been staggered so the first phase will come in by last week in February. First week of March hopefully, the President will commission those buses into operation and it will be handed over to Metro Mass,” he stated.

He said the second batch of 100 buses will arrive by June-July, with the last batch expected between August and September this year.

In addition, the company is also acquiring Toyota Hiace and Toyota Coaster buses. Haroun Apaw Wiredu said the Metro Mass will purchase 200 Toyota Hiace buses and 100 Coaster buses.

Apaw Wiredu expressed gratitude to government for its commitment to retooling Metro Mass Transit. The acquisition of these new buses is expected to ease the transport crisis and reduce the congestion, long queues at bus terminals.
