The Member of Parliament for Subin, Kofi Obiri Yeboah, has described the Dagomba Line fire as more painful than the Adum fire.

He said this when he reacted to the devastating fire outbreak that swept through Dagomba Line last Saturday.

The fire destroyed over many wooden structures, including a mosque, and displaced hundreds of residents, most of whom are northern Ghanaian traders.

The fire left families without shelter and basic necessities, plunging the already vulnerable community into distress.

During a visit to the scene on Wednesday, January 21,2026, an emotionally moved Obiri Yeboah toured the charred remains of the settlement, which previously served as homes for many families.

He lamented that unlike the Adum–Blue Light fire disaster in Kumasi last year, which largely affected commercial activities, the Dagomba Line fire wiped out people’s places of residence, making its impact far more devastating.

In a show of leadership and solidarity, the MP made an immediate cash donation of GH¢10,000 to the victims and assured them that this was only the first step in a broader support effort.

“The situation here is heartbreaking. Many of these people have nowhere to sleep,” he told journalists, calling for urgent intervention from government, corporate institutions, and benevolent individuals.

Mr Obiri Yeboah also appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to implement a long-term solution by constructing permanent and safer housing structures to resettle the displaced residents.

He further pledged to lobby aggressively for additional support, drawing on the same network of institutions and individuals that came to the aid of victims of last year’s Adum–Blue Light fire disaster.

Chairman of the Dagomba Line settlers, Nasiru Zibilim, praised the MP for his swift intervention, describing it as a lifeline for the devastated community.
