Champions Asante Kotoko have exited this year’s MTN FA Cup after going 2-4 down on penalties to Aduana FC.
The Round of 16 game, played on Sunday, February 8 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, had ended goalless after full regulation time.
A fifth-minute penalty handed the Porcupine Warriors following a handball against Stephen Anokye Badu was fluffed by skipper Samba O’Neil.
Subsequent chances that came the way of the defending champions could also not be buried as the Dormaa-based side held their own to force the match into shootouts.
Though Kotoko goalkeeper Mohamed Camara saved the first kick, he failed in the rest while three of his on-field players including striker Kwame Opoku missed theirs.
Aduana FC move to the quarter-finals to face Techiman Liberty Youth.
