Cybersecurity and Data Expert, Samuel Kwame Adomako, has warned Ghanaians against the use of sophisticated devices for secret recordings.
Speaking on Ghanakoma morning show on Akoma 87.9fm in Kumasi with Sir John, on Monday, February 16,2026, after the viral videos of Russian and some Ghanaian women, Mr Adomako, condemned the practice describing it as a gross invasion of privacy and exploitation.
The man, identified as Yaytseslav, is alleged to have travelled to Ghana and targeted women around Accra, especially near the Accra Mall area at Shiashie. According to accounts circulating online, he approached women in public spaces, struck up conversations and invited them to his hotel room with a simple line, “come, I want to show you how I live”.
Mr Adomako said the publication has sparked widespread anger, with many Ghanaians condemning what they described as a gross invasion of privacy and exploitation.
He argued that the women were recorded without their knowledge or consent, and that sharing the footage online has exposed them to humiliation and lasting reputational harm.
He cautioned the public against digital sexual exploitation following reports involving a foreign national who allegedly engaged in sexual activities with some Ghanaian women and recorded and circulated the acts without consent.
He described the alleged non-consensual recording and distribution of intimate images as a criminal offence and a violation of dignity and privacy.
According to him, preliminary information suggests the individual may not currently be within Ghana’s jurisdiction. However, he stressed that the seriousness of the alleged conduct remains unchanged and authorities must pursue accountability through all lawful means, including international cooperation and mutual legal assistance.
He called on the Ministry of Communication and Digital Innovations and other relevant agencies to put in place measures to prevent and respond to image-based sexual abuse. These efforts include digital safety interventions, engagement with online platforms, and mechanisms for reporting and removing abusive content.
“I want to remind the public to exercise caution in both online and offline interactions,” he said.
He urged the public to be careful about secret recordings.
He called for the ban on the importation of such sophisticated devices.
“Government should ban importation of such devices,” he suggested.
