The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has lauded the Ashanti Regional Security Council (REGSEC) for its pivotal role in curbing the theft of electricity conductors in the Ashanti South Region.
The Ashanti South Regional General Manager for the ECG, Ing Kofi Adjabeng, said the drastic reduction in conductor theft has led to significant improvements in power supply and service delivery across the region.
He explained that persistent theft in the past had disrupted ECG’s operations, resulting in frequent outages, higher operational costs, and inconvenience to customers.
However, the recent decline in such criminal activities has enhanced system stability and allowed ECG to channel more resources into network upgrades and customer service.
“I wish to commend the Ashanti Regional Security Council, the Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene in particular, and the general public for their vigilance and support. Their collective effort has been instrumental in safeguarding our infrastructure and improving power supply in the Ashanti South Region,” Ing Adjabeng said.
While celebrating the gains made, he warned customers against mobile money-related fraud, noting that fraudsters continue to exploit digital platforms to deceive unsuspecting clients. He urged customers to rely only on ECG’s approved digital payment platforms and official communication channels to ensure convenience, efficiency, and protection against fraud.
Ing. Adjabeng further encouraged prompt bill payments, emphasizing that revenue from customers remains the primary source of funds for paying power producers and procuring essential materials.
He assured stakeholders of ECG Ashanti South Region’s unwavering commitment to reliable power supply, strengthened collaboration with security agencies, and sustained efforts to protect both infrastructure and customer interests.
