A motor rider by name, Mathew, is in critical condition after a serious collision with a private car (GN 1754-18) at Monaco Junction, Atonsu, in Kumasi, on Tuesday, February 17,2026.
The accident occurred amid a Police chase that reportedly began in Kaase.
Our source at the scene described a tense sequence in which Mathew attempted to evade a Police patrol car (GP 3764), ultimately losing control and colliding with the oncoming vehicle.
Residents around rushed to the scene to assist him, and he was immediately transported to Kumasi South Hospital.
Hospital sources confirmed that Mathew sustained severe head injuries and remains in critical care.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident, including the circumstances leading up to the Police pursuit.
Meanwhile, the Police have appealed for calm as they conduct their inquiries.
This incident has sparked conversations among local residents about road safety and the protocols followed during high-speed chases in densely populated areas.
