The Swedru School of Business Old Students Association (SOSA) has condemned the attack on a student of Obrachire SHS, allegedly caused by some of its students, during a district inter-schools sports competition at Agona Swedru in the Central region.

Akpekakovi Fiadzigbe, the Obrachire SHS student, was violently attacked by students of the Swedru School of Business (SWESBUS) who pelted stones at him, breaking a tooth and causing multiple facial injuries during the competition.

A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media, showing suspects throwing stones, hitting him, some stepping on his neck, and others fleeing.

The said incident was caused by a confrontation between students of the two schools which escalated into violent attacks, with Master Fiadzigbe saying he was attacked without any provocation.

“They threw stones at me when I was looking for a place to sit to use the medicine on my eye. It happened unexpectedly,” he stated, stressing that they attacked him unprovoked. “I didn’t do anything,” he told TV3 in an exclusive interview.

In a statement issued by the Association, it said such actions are not in any way condoned by the Association, urging law enforcement agencies to met out the needed action on those who would be found culpable.

“While the facts of the matter are still being formally established, the NEC, representing the global body of SOSA, denounces these acts and condemns them in the strongest possible terms,” portions of the statement noted.

“Violence and assault have no place in our educational institutions or our society,” the statement added.
