Akpekakovi Fiadzigbe, the Obrachire SHS student who was violently attacked during a district inter-schools athletics competition at Agona Swedru in the Central region is calling for justice.

The young student says those who attacked him must be apprehended by the law enforcement agencies and made to face the full rigours of the law.

Fiadzigbe was attacked by students of Swedru School of Business (SWESBUS) who pelted stones at him, breaking a tooth and causing multiple facial injuries during the competition.

A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media, showing suspects throwing stones, hitting him, some stepping on his neck, and others fleeing.

In an exclusive interview with TV3 on Monday, February 23, 2026, after he had been discharged from the hospital, he noted that the suspects attacked him unprovoked, as he was looking for a place to sit to apply his medicine.

“They threw stones at me when I was looking for a place to sit to use the medicine on my eye. It happened unexpectedly,” he stated, stressing that they attacked him unprovoked. “I didn’t do anything.”

According to him, the stones were pelted at him unawares. “I was just standing there and they started throwing the stones. I wasn’t looking. When I turned, I saw my colleagues running but I didn’t know what was happening. By the time I realised, the stone came to hit me.”

When asked what he wants to be done to the culprits, he said “I want them to be arrested and anything the government wants to do to them.”

The Ghana Police Service has since arrested three students in connection with the attack, as investigations continue.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Ministry of Education have condemned the violence, describing it as unacceptable and contrary to the spirit of sportsmanship. They have called for those responsible to be dealt with in accordance with the law.

In response to the incident, all ongoing sporting activities in the Central Region have been suspended pending further review and the implementation of enhanced security measures.
