The Ghana Police Service in collaboration with the Cyber Security Authority and the National Security Authority has arrested a suspect pastor for defilement and the production and possession of a child sexual abuse material.

The arrest took place in the early hours of March 6, 2026 in Cape Coast, Central Region during a joint-led intelligence operation by the Ghana Police, the Cyber Security and the National Security.

Police investigations revealed that in August 2021, the suspect lured the survivor, then a 13-year-old Junior High School student into his home under the guise of providing spiritual counselling and behavioral correction.

The suspect was previously charged with two counts in the Cape Coast circuit court for defilement of a female child under 16 years per section 101 (2) of the Criminal Offences Act 1960 Act 29 and child pornography per section 136 (1) (c) of the Electronic Transactions Act 2008 Act 772.

He was re-arrested and put before a Circuit court on March 8, 2026 on a new charge of possessing an indecent image of a child violating section 62 and 63 of the Cyber Security Act 2020 Act 1038.
