Motorists heading towards Tema, Haatso, Adenta and its environs had to grapple with huge vehicular traffic due to ongoing road expansion and diversion works on the Accra-Tema Motorway.
The expansion work has affected traffic flow from all routes leading to the Tetteh-Quarshie interchange.
As at 10:00pm on March 9, Onuaonline’s correspondents reported that traffic was at snail pace from all directions.

Earlier, the Ghana Highway Authority announced a temporary traffic management arrangement on the Accra-Tema Motorway as part of ongoing expansion works.
In a public notice issued on March 5, 2026, the Authority said the measure is necessary to facilitate the launching of T-beams for the expansion of the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange Bridge along the N4 Highway.
According to the Authority, the temporary arrangement will begin on Monday, March 9, 2026, and is expected to last for four months.
During this period, lanes on the N4 northbound carriageway from Accra towards Madina will be temporarily closed. Traffic will instead be redirected to the southbound carriageway from Madina to Accra, which will be reconfigured to carry vehicles in both directions.
The southbound section, which currently has four lanes, will operate with two lanes in each direction to allow vehicles travelling both toward Accra and toward Madina to move through the construction zone.
The Authority explained that the lane reduction is necessary to ensure a safe working environment for construction workers while maintaining road safety for motorists using the motorway.
Motorists have therefore been advised to drive cautiously, comply with all traffic signs, and cooperate with traffic management officials throughout the duration of the works.
The Ghana Highway Authority urged the public to contact its Public Affairs Division for further information regarding the temporary traffic arrangements.
