The Traders Advocacy Group in Ghana has filed a lawsuit against the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), accusing the tax body of refusing to disclose details of a contract for an artificial intelligence system being implemented at Tema Port.
In a statement dated March 10 2026, the group said it had applied for access to the contract under Ghana’s Right to Information Act on 10 February, seeking details of an agreement between the GRA and a company called Truedare Investment Limited.
The Traders Advocacy Group Ghana (TAGG) says it has taken legal action against the Ghana Revenue Authority after the authority declined to release information about a contract awarded for artificial intelligence (AI) operations at Tema Port.
However, the group says the GRA rejected the request on 25 February, citing Section 11 of the Right to Information Act 2019, which allows public institutions to withhold information considered commercially confidential or harmful to a third party’s competitive interest.
The release noted that, TAGG strongly disagrees with the decision and believes the refusal undermines transparency and accountability in a process that directly affects traders and port operations.
The group further argues that import valuation and duty assessments have significant economic implications for traders and should therefore be subject to public scrutiny.
The group says it has therefore filed a writ in court seeking to compel the GRA to disclose full details of the contract, including the company’s track record and experience in artificial intelligence.
The advocacy group is also calling on the Ministry of Finance and other stakeholders to support efforts to ensure fairness and accountability in port operations.
