The Ghana Police Service has said that the Inspector General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has deployed a special team to Gbeniyiri in the Savannah Region following reprisal attacks in the community.
This is contained in a press release dated March 11.
“The team comprising Intelligence Officers and Investigators are providing support to the Regional Command to intensify security and to bring perpetrators to justice,” the Police Service stated.
“The Savannah Regional Command would like to assure the public that calm has since been restored and efforts are ongoing to get those behind the attacks arrested and brought to justice,” it assured.

On March 10, 3news’ Christopher Amoako reported that five persons have been confirmed dead, with five others in critical condition, following an attack suspected to be linked to armed robbery.
The locals, in a reprisal attack, killed four Fulani herdsmen, with five others seriously injured.
The injured persons are currently receiving treatment at the Wa and Sawla Government hospitals.
Police in Sawla have already commenced investigations into the matter.
Savannah Regional Minister, Salisu Bi-Awurbi, has described the incident as unjustifiable, terrible and unacceptable.
“We will make sure that anyone linked to this crime will be arrested and prosecuted,” he said.
Some relative calm has since been restored in the area.
