President of the IMANI Centre for Policy and Education (CPE), Franklin Cudjoe, is asserting that President John Dramani Mahama is not adhering to the code of conduct for public officers.

Franklin Cudjoe’s position is with regards to how the President travels out of the country; making him question why he uses commercial flights and also uses his brother’s private jet in some instances.

According to Mr Cudjoe, the President must justify to the public why he chooses to use his brother’s private jet instead of a state-sponsored flight, and whether it is the best available option.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, March 12, 2026, he said: “Mr. President, with due respect, you cannot be asking your appointees not to travel without providing economic justification and then you jump on your brother’s plane without providing us reasons why you think it is the only safe, available and cheaper airline.”

“You recently flew commercial and your communications team happily shared videos. We all applauded,” he added.

The IMANI boss said President Mahama’s actions regarding his travels are inconsistent with the code of conduct he has set for his appointees.

He urged him to stop using his brother’s jet, saying it brings back the “dead goat” syndrome, which was abhorred by many Ghanaians.

“Seriously this sends conflicting signals about your own fidelity to the public code of conduct for public office. This is the second time l have heard about using Mr. Ibrahim Mahama’s plane and you may be earning back your own “dead goat” syndrome, which was last rejected by many. Please stop,” he stated.
