Mr Maxwell Boakye, the Council of State member representing the Western Region, has officially commissioned a newly refurbished community centre for the people of Egbazo.

The facility, which had been in a state of disrepair since its original construction in 1981, has now been transformed into a modern, fit-for-purpose hub for social gatherings, civic education, and local events.

The complete overhaul was funded solely by Mr. Boakye, adding to a growing portfolio of social cohesion projects led by the young statesman.

Maxwell Boakye made history as the youngest member of the Council of State ever appointed in Ghana. Despite his relative youth, he is rapidly building a reputation for hands-on, community-driven development.

“This centre stood still for 43 years. It was time to give it new life,” a spokesperson for the Council member noted.

At the commissioning ceremony, Mr. Boakye explained that his motivation stemmed from the remarkable communal spirit displayed by the people of Egbazo.

He urged residents to remain united, stressing that unity is the bedrock of sustainable development.

In a surprise announcement that drew loud cheers from the crowd, he went further pledging 10 brand new desktop computers to the community, effectively setting the stage for a future ICT training hub.

The refurbishment project has clearly struck a chord with local traditional authorities. Nana Ama Achiaba IV, the Queen Mother of the community, and Tufohene Abizi Kojo led the chiefs and elders in thanking the Council member for his benevolence.

In a touching gesture of goodwill and cultural pride, the traditional leaders presented Mr. Boakye with custom-made traditional clothes on behalf of the entire community a symbolic act of adoption and deep appreciation.

The event also drew key figures from the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Western Region, signaling strong political support for the initiative.

Notable attendees included; Benedict Boadi – Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Jomoro, Emmanuel Agyekum – District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ellembelle.

Several other functionaries of the NDC in the Western Region were also present, standing in solidarity with a project that bridges governance, tradition, and community welfare.

With the refurbished community centre now operational and 10 desktop computers on the way, Egbazo is poised to become a small but significant model for how Council of State members can directly impact local lives.
