The Abokobi Krobo communities, located in the Akyem Abuakwa North District and other Cocoa growing farming communities around Eastern Region are currently struggling for electricity in their communities.

Dadematse Nene Teye Kwame expressed frustration over the long -abandoned construction of electricity power projects that has reportedly remained incomplete for years now.

The Youth leader Mr Seth Nyakotey said the situation is worse, as residents, especially women and youths are moving from the communities to nearby towns.

The road is also having a toll on local trade, resulting in high charges by Okada riders doing business in the area.

According to the spokesperson of the women, Madam Victoria Mamele, the poor road network is negatively impacting their daily routines, especially when they are going to deliver babies in the hospital or traveling to the market.

The District Chief Executive DCE, for the area, Charles Darko Yeboah, said steps are already being taken to address the electricity and road network problems.

He said “we began as a promise made under President John Dramani Mahama and recounted how the youth and the Dadematseme has drawn his attention on electricity projects.”
