Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko have dispelled rumours that interim coach Prince Yaw Owusu has left camp without notice.

The club described the rumours as “untrue”.

“Prince duly sought permission from management to attend to urgent family matters as he continues to mourn the passing of his beloved mother,” the club said in a short statement signed by Communications Director Samuel Sarfo Duku.

They expect Coach Yaw Owusu to return to Kumasi Friday morning, promising that “further updates or decisions will be officially communicated in due course”.

This comes after the club issued an apology over recent disappointing results and promised to find a competent coach whose vision aligns with the club’s.

This was seen as a jab to the current coach, who took over after the resignation of Abdul-Karim Zito.

After losing to league leaders Medeama SC on Sunday, April 12, the club has fallen off the pecking order in contending for the title.

The Porcupine Warriors are 6th with 43 points, 10 below the leaders.
