Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah has announced the setting up of a Ministerial Committee to re-look into the revocation of the mining license of Adamus Resources.

According to the Minister, the decision to set up the committee stems from fairness,

Mr Armah-Kofi Buah disclosed this during an engagement with management of Adamus Resources limited following a petition presented to him on April 30.

“It is important that as a Minister I look at the petition that has been brought and I can say it’s been a very constructive meeting. This is being done in the interest of the investment and people of Ghana”, the Minister stressed.

The Spokesperson of the Ministry, Paa Kwesi Schandorf told 3news that the Minister emphasized that the Committee which will be made of officials from Minerals Commission and Lands Ministry will have two weeks within which to present their report.

Adamus Resources, in the petition, is requesting administrative review and reversal of the revocation of their license.

The Minister said the request will be looked into by the committee and Adamus Resources will be given the opportunity to explain their side of the issue.

“We will directly engage Adamus and give them the opportunity to address the issues”, the Minister said.

The Minister also revealed that he has set up an interim management committee to manage the mines of Adamus Resources in an orderly manner until the committee concludes its work.

He emphasized that the Ministry would work without prejudice to the earlier findings by the Minerals Commission.

On her part, the Chief Executive of Adamus Resources Angela List thanked President Mahama, the Minister for Lands for the decision investigate the matter further.

She said the company has attached all evidence to the petition for the perusal by the Ministry, adding that “we are a responsible mining company and we don’t engage in illegality.”
