The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expelled two of its members, Kevin Taylor and Rev. Ernest Owusu Bempah, from the party.

An announcement of their dismissal was contained in a statement issued signed and issued by the General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, on Sunday, May 10, 2026.

According to the statement, their expunction from the party was with immediate effect.

Leadership explained that the action was taken “in accordance with the provisions of the NPP Constitution and in line with the principles of discipline, loyalty, and unity”

The duo, per the content of the dismissal statement, “have been found guilty of gross misconduct, anti-party activities, public attacks on the party, undermining its leadership, and engaging in behaviour inconsistent with the values, principles, and integrity of the New Patriotic Party.”

It continued that the actions of these two individuals “have brought the party into disrepute, caused division, and violated the trust placed in them as members and public figures associated with the NPP.”

The statement added that the decision was not arbitrary but one that followed due process as enshrined in the constitution of the elephant fraternity.

“This decision was taken after due process, consultations with relevant party organs, and in strict accordance with Articles 3(5), 4(2)(b), and 12(1)(a) of the NPP Constitution.”

It further stressed the party’s commitment to “discipline, unity, and the collective vision of building a strong, united, and prosperous Ghana.”

Meanwhile, the party leadership is urging “all true patriots and members of the party to remain calm, focused, and committed to our shared cause.”
