Debibi United secured promotion to the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League after coming from a goal down to beat former campaigners Tamale City by 3-1 on Wednesday.
It was the play-off for the winner of Zone 1 in the 2025/26 Division One League.
Debibi United had won Zone 1B while Tamale City had won Zone 1A. Thus, the play-off at the Accra Sports Stadium was to get the winner from Zone 1 to join Port City FC from Zone 3 and FC AshantiGold 04 from Zone 2 as the clubs to play in the top-flight next season.
Victor Kodom drew first blood in the 18th minute, giving Hamza Mohammed’s side the hope of returning to elite football.
However, spectators were to enjoy a spectacle as Kwadwo Antwi scored three goals to give his side a 3-1 first-half lead.
There were no goals in the second half as the score stayed the same, giving Debibi United the ticket to the Ghana Premier League.
They join Berekum Chelsea, Bechem United, Young Apostles and Aduana FC as the sides from the Bono area to play in the top-flight league.
