The Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has dismissed claims that the One Million Coders Programme (OMCP) is a hoax.
He made the comments following a monitoring visit to operational training centres in the Greater Accra region on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
Leading a team to the centres, the Minister visited the Accra College of Education, Gbegbeise JHS, and the Mamprobi Community Information Centre, where training sessions were actively underway.
The visit comes amid circulating allegations that some listed centres, including the Accra College of Education, do not exist.
However, the Minister’s engagement with participants and facilitators at the site directly contradicted those claims.
“This programme is real, it is active, and it is delivering impact,” the Minister emphasised, urging the public to disregard the misinformation.
He reaffirmed government’s commitment to ensuring that young Ghanaians are equipped with practical digital skills, noting that the OMCP remains a key pillar of Ghana’s digital transformation agenda.
