The Minority Caucus has expressed concern over the delay in the passage of the anti-LGBTQ bill, despite what it says is strong public backing and previous campaign commitments by the governing party.
Addressing the media on behalf of the caucus on May 22, Deputy Minority Leader, Patricia Appiagyei, described the delay as deeply troubling.
“The anti-LGBTQ bill, despite strong support and the NDC’s own campaign commitments, was not brought to a final vote in 2025,” she stated.
“The Minority finds this delay deeply troubling and remains vigilant to ensure the bill is not quietly diluted and shelved,” she added.
According to the caucus, the continued postponement of the bill has raised concerns among supporters who expected Parliament to conclude deliberations and take a final decision on the legislation.
Patricia Appiagyei stressed that the caucus would continue to push for transparency and accountability on the matter.
The Minority insists the bill continues to enjoy significant public support and therefore deserves decisive parliamentary action.
