Following congregational prayers, the Techiman Municipal Imam of the Ahlus-Sunnah Wal Jama’ah, Alhaji Idris Suleman Abdulai, has issued a passionate plea to the public, focusing heavily on regional peace, youth development, and the growing menace of substance abuse.

Speaking to Tv3’s correspondent Belinda Tetteh, the Islamic cleric emphasized that the future of the Bono East Region hinges on how well the community protects and guides its younger generation.

“Peace is the foundation of everything we hope to achieve,” the Imam stated on May 27.

Turning his attention to youth development, the religious leader challenged local authorities, to create sustainable economic opportunities for young people.

He noted that idle hands are easily swayed into social vices, making intentional mentorship and job creation a matter of regional urgency.

The most fervent part of the Imam’s address focused on the rising tide of drug and substance abuse among the youth in Techiman and surrounding areas.

“We are losing brilliant minds to substance abuse every single day,” Imam Abdulai lamented.

Imam Abdulai described the trend as a ticking time bomb that requires immediate, collective intervention.
