A 27-year-old man suspected of stealing a tricycle has died after being apprehended by residents of Mpasatia in the Atwima Mponua district of the Ashanti region.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, June 3, 2026, when community members reportedly arrested the suspect at about 3:00 a.m. in connection with the alleged theft.
Information surrounding his death remain unclear, and authorities are yet to establish the exact circumstances that led to the tragedy.
The case has been reported to the police, who have started investigations into both the alleged theft and the events that resulted in the suspect’s death.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been released, as police work to notify his family and complete the identification process.
Eyewitness say, officers have transported the body, which had been covered with leaves, to the morgue for preservation and further examination.
