The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has honoured the Group Chief Executive Officer of Media General, Beatrice Agyemang, with a media development award for her contribution to media development and leadership within the industry.
The event forms part of activities marking this year’s World Press Freedom Day (WPFD) celebration, which took place on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the Alisa Hotel, Accra.
In a citation honouring her, GJA noted that, Madam Agyemang has been a force to reckon with when it comes to women in the media space.
“Your remarkable journey in broadcasting represents a powerful story of leadership, innovation and excellence. As one of Ghana’s most accomplished female media executives, you have helped shape modern broadcasting through your visionary management, strategic innovation and an unwavering commitment to quality programming.”
The citation also acknowledged the Group CEO’s influence in making Media General expand across thresholds.
“Under your leadership, Media General has expanded its reach, strengthened its audience engagement and created platforms that inform, educate and entertain millions of Ghanaians.
“Your success has also inspired countless women pursuing leadership roles in media and corporate management. Tonight, the Ghana Journalists Association salutes you symbolically with this special award for Beatrice Agyeman in the Media Development Award category.”
Beatrice Agyeman has been a distinguished Ghanaian media executive with more than two decades of experience in broadcasting, media management and strategic communications.
She rose through the ranks of the media industry to become Group Chief Executive Officer of Media General, one of Ghana’s leading multimedia organisations, overseeing television, radio and digital platforms.
Under her leadership, the company has strengthened its position in the media landscape through innovation, audience growth and investment in quality journalism.
She is widely respected for her leadership, professionalism and commitment to media excellence and continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of broadcasting and media development in Ghana.
The honours night also saw the celebration of other veteran journalists, media leaders and strategic partners whose dedication and sacrifice have strengthened democratic governance, enhanced media professionalism and contributed to national development.
