Thirty-two (32) divisional and sub-chiefs under the Nkusukum Traditional Council in the Mfantseman municipality of the Central region have unanimously banned the Member of Parliament for Mfantseman, Dr. Ebenezer Arhin, from the area.
By the act, the chiefs, having poured libation as a ritual to invoke the gods of the land, warned that the MP cannot set foot on the land or attend any traditional engagement within the traditional area.
The ban follows allegations of disrespect toward the paramount chief of the area. The sub-chiefs say the MP’s conduct undermines the authority and dignity of the stool.
Cladded in reb and black attire, chiefs asked the gods to take severe action against Dr. Arhin if he defies the ban.
Addressing a press conference at the palace, Paramount Chief of Nkusukum Traditional Area, Nana Okesse Essandoh IX, indicated that the Council noted several attempts to engage the MP to clarify certain misunderstandings, ongoing projects, and other issues which were ignored.

“As we speak, the MP has not honoured our traditional calls. Nananom will plead with President John Mahama to call his MP to order.”
“From today going, the entire Nkusukum Traditional Council, led by me, the Omanhene, no longer recognizes you, Dr. Ebenezer Arhin, as our MP and do not think you will ever set foot in any divisional and sub-chief’s palace within my traditional area,” he warned.
The Paramount Chief further threatened that if the MP continues to disrespect the Council, he should not expect to remain the Member of Parliament for the Mfantseman constituency.
“The Council will ensure that Dr. Arhin loses the 2028 Mfantseman constituency MP seat. He will be a one-term MP if he chooses to challenge us,” the Paramount Chief cautioned.
Gyaasehene Nana Badu, led and performed the invocation of the gods to take severe action against the MP for disrespecting the Nkusukum traditional stool if he defies the ban.
Our team’s effort to get the MP’s response to the issue proved futile.
