The Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Richard Ofori-Agyeman Boadi, has appealed to residents and business operators along the Santase Roundabout to Asokwa stretch to cooperate fully with contractors working on the road dualisation project.
Inspecting the site on Monday, June 15, 2026, Mr Boadi said the project is aimed at providing a modern, motorable road network that will ease traffic congestion in the city and create a more conducive environment for business growth.
The Kumasi Mayor said the Government of Ghana has awarded the contract to JOSOP Construction Limited, which has begun preliminary works including grand reshaping of the corridor in preparation for full construction.
He urged traders, drivers, and residents in the area to exercise patience and give the contractor the needed space and support to meet the project timeline.
“This dualisation is not just about asphalt. It’s about reducing travel time, cutting vehicle maintenance costs, and improving commerce in Kumasi. We all need to support the contractor so the work can be completed on schedule,” he said.
The Santasi Roundabout – Asokwa Interchange Dual Carriageway Project forms part of ongoing efforts by government to modernise road infrastructure in Kumasi and address longstanding traffic bottlenecks on some of the city’s corridors.
The route serves thousands of commuters daily and connects major residential, commercial and institutional areas, including Santasi, Patasi, Ahodwo, Asokwa and adjoining communities.
Traffic congestion along the corridor has become a persistent challenge over the years, particularly during peak hours, affecting productivity and increasing travel times for motorists and public transport operators.
Kumasi Mayor, appealed to all affected persons to cooperate fully to relocate without delay to ensure the smooth implementation of the project.
“The Management of KMA is requesting the public , especially affected occupants, to comply and relocate to pave the way for smooth construction of the road” he emphasized.
