The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Sam George, has announced that telecommunication company, MTN Ghana has reduced its fibre broadband prices, following engagements between government and MTN Ghana.

According to the announcement, a 100 Mbps unlimited broadband package which previously cost GHS 987 per month will now be offered at just GHS 299.

Under the revised pricing structure, customers can also access higher-speed packages at significantly reduced rates, including a 300 Mbps unlimited plan for GHS 444 and a premium 500 Mbps unlimited package for GHS 999.

This new price review is aimed at improving internet affordability.

“Effective today, fibre broadband prices have crashed! Previously, for a month of unlimited 100 Mbps broadband, you paid GHS 987. Today, for the same 100 Mbps, you pay GHS 299.

“For GHS999, you get a 500 Mbps unlimited broadband package, and for GHS444, you get a 300 Mbps unlimited package,” Sam George wrote.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, June 17, the Minister welcomed the development, describing it as a win for consumers and the broader push toward inclusive connectivity.

He expressed appreciation to MTN’s management and staff for responding to calls to make broadband more affordable, stable, and reliable for citizens.

He further indicated that government will continue engaging service providers to improve both pricing and quality of internet services across the country, as part of efforts to deepen Ghana’s digital transformation agenda.

The Minister reiterated that access to fast and affordable internet is no longer a luxury but a necessity for education, business, and public service delivery, adding that such reforms will help bridge the digital divide and boost productivity nationwide.
