Ten supposed Nigerians have been arrested by the Bibiani Police for allegedly engaging in commercial sex work at Chirano in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region.

Speaking to the 3news, the Municipal Coordinator of the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU), ASP Evelyn Ayinati Yitamkey, confirmed the arrest and disclosed that the suspects admitted they had voluntarily travelled to Ghana to engage in the activity.

ASP Yitamkey explained that prostitution is contrary to the laws of Ghana and indicated that the Police are collaborating with the Ghana Immigration Service to facilitate the repatriation of the suspects to their home country.

She further cautioned landlords and property owners against renting out their premises for criminal activities.

According to her, landlords who knowingly allow tenants to engage in illegal acts on their properties could be deemed accomplices and may face arrest and prosecution.

The suspects are currently in police custody while investigations continue.
