Some females arrested amongst some persons who were earlier believed to be illegal miners have revealed they are commercial sex workers.

They say they came from Nigeria to engage in prostitution in Ghana.

In a video which went viral on social media earlier in the day, it was reported that over 200 persons have been arrested by the Ghana Armed Forces for engaging in illegal mining.

But Onua News’ Joseph Armstrong who has followed the issue keenly tells Afia Tagor on Onua Kaseɛbɔ (News) that, some of the ladies amongst those arrested said they are foreigners from Nigeria.

They said they were brought into Ghana by an agent who pays them GH₵10.00 a day after sleeping with about 10 men with a charge of GH₵20.00 per customer.

According to Armstrong, they want the Ghana Immigration Service to deport them to Nigeria since their colleagues who fled returned and apologised to their bosses to reemploy them into the commercial sex business.

They said some of them also die when they escape from the business.

Meanwhile, as at the time this report was being filed, the Ghana Immigration Service had not accepted the culprits saying they were not informed of any such operation.
