Captain Smart is asking the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin to defray some GH₵6,600 debt owed the state.

A support which was given him by the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) to construct a Shea butter factory for his constituents brought about the debt.

According to the Auditor General’s Report 2003, the then Minority Leader agreed to pay the sum. But it cannot be established whether he paid or not.

Speaking on his show, Maakye, Thursday, September 15, 2022, Captain Smart said the amount, ₵6,600.00, which was incurred in 1993, ₵66million then –10 years after the Auditor General’s Report came out –should be paid in its current value with interest.
