As part of the government’s green transition agenda, the Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Dr John Jinapor has said that the government is prioritising the deployment of renewable energy solutions for critical installations, with conventional power serving as a reliable backup to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.

He said this when he received the leadership of the University of Cape Coast, led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Denis Worlanyo Aheto, in Accra on Thursday, to discuss sustainable and reliable power solutions for the university.

Their discussions focused on practical and cost-effective energy solutions to support residential facilities and other critical operations within tertiary institutions.

“As part of our green transition agenda, the government is prioritising the deployment of renewable energy solutions for critical installations, with conventional power serving as a reliable backup to ensure uninterrupted service delivery,” the Minister wrote on Facebook after the meeting.

He added, “Together, we can build a greener and more sustainable future for Ghana’s educational sector; creating an enabling environment for teaching, learning, research, and innovation.”

Prior to this engagement, Dr Jinapor had said in a separate meeting with Damilola Ogunbiyi, CEO of Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) and Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Sustainable Energy for All, as well as Co-Chair of UN-Energy that Ghana is advancing the national energy and sustainable development priorities.
