The Eastern Regional Police Command has arrested a 29-year-old suspect, Isaac Anim, in connection with an alleged robbery, assault and rape at Okorase Junction 3 in Koforidua.
Police say the victim was attacked on June 15, 2026, and robbed of an iPhone 11, 200 US dollars and a pack of food before she was allegedly sexually assaulted.
According to the police, an intelligence led operation by the Regional Police Intelligence Department led to the suspect’s arrest at his hideout in Awukugwa near Adukrom on Friday, June 26.
A search conducted after the arrest led to the recovery of the victim’s iPhone.
Investigators say the suspect allegedly used the victim’s SIM card to fraudulently withdraw money from a mobile money vendor.
The suspect has since been handed over to the Eastern Regional Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) for further investigations.
Police say preliminary investigations have linked him to six additional cases involving robbery, rape and the alleged defilement of a 10-year-old girl in the Okorase area.
The Eastern Regional Police Command says it remains committed to protecting lives and property and has assured the public that investigations are ongoing.
