The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has assured Parliament that Government’s school placement policy continues to promote fairness, merit and equal access to quality education.

He gave this assurance when he appeared before Parliament to answer questions on the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) and other issues relating to his Ministry.
The Minister indicated that the Constitution guarantees every Ghanaian child the right to equal educational opportunities and noted that the placement process is designed to ensure transparency and equity while expanding access to quality secondary education.

He explained further that, under the Free SHS policy, at least 30 percent of vacancies in Category “A” Senior High Schools are reserved for graduates of public basic schools to promote equitable access to elite schools.

Presenting the 2025 CSSPS results, the Minister disclosed that 71,406 public basic school graduates, representing 57.91 percent of placements, gained admission to Category “A” schools, exceeding the policy target. He added that the figures demonstrate the government’s commitment to improving access to quality education while maintaining merit-based opportunities for all qualified students.

He later reaffirmed Government’s commitment to improving educational infrastructure and implementing policies that promote equity and inclusion across the education sector.
