The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced an expedited process to replace Ghanaian passports that were lost or damaged during the recent floods that affected parts of the country.
In a press release issued on Friday, July 3, 2026, the Ministry expressed its deepest sympathy to all persons affected by the floods, describing the disaster as one that resulted in the loss of lives and widespread destruction of property.
The Ministry also extended its condolences to families who lost loved ones and assured affected communities of its solidarity during the difficult period.
Acknowledging that many Ghanaians may have lost or had their passports damaged as a result of the flooding, the Ministry said it had decided to fast-track the replacement of the affected travel documents.
Individuals whose passports were lost or damaged have been asked to contact the Ministry between Friday, July 3 and Friday, July 17, 2026, by calling 055 936 8563.
According to the Ministry, affected persons will be required to provide their names, dates of birth and gender as contained in their lost or damaged passports.
They are also expected to submit their phone numbers to facilitate follow-up.
The Ministry indicated that it intends to replace all reported lost and damaged passports within one week of receiving the required information.
Reaffirming its commitment to supporting flood victims, the Ministry said it remains dedicated to assisting affected persons and contributing to the government’s broader recovery efforts.
The announcement forms part of measures being implemented to ease the burden on victims of the recent floods, which have displaced residents and destroyed property across several parts of the country.
