The Office of the Attorney-General has filed an application at the High Court seeking to overturn the order on June 29, 2026 that allowed former CEO of the National Food Buffer Stock Company Ltd (NAFCO) Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba, to travel to the United Kingdom for specialist medical treatment.

In a statement issued by the Attorney-General’s Office, the application follows the emergence of new material facts that came to light after the court granted the travel request. The Office argues that these developments significantly alter the circumstances under which the court exercised its discretion.

The Attorney-General alleges that Aludiba attempted to use an order from a differently constituted High Court in a separate case to access funds in bank accounts that remain frozen under orders obtained by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).

The A-G noted that this alleged attempt contravenes Section 37 of the Economic and Organised Crime Office Act, 2010 (Act 804).

According to the statement, the financial institution involved declined the withdrawal request and alerted investigators. The alleged attempt reportedly occurred shortly before Aludiba was due to leave Ghana, prompting concerns about his compliance with existing court orders, the integrity of the criminal proceedings, and the possibility that he may not return to face trial if permitted to travel.

The Attorney-General maintains that these facts were not presented to the court when the travel order was granted and could materially affect the court’s decision on whether Aludiba should be allowed to leave the jurisdiction.

The Office says it has therefore asked the High Court to reconsider its earlier decision in the interest of justice, stressing that such applications are part of the ordinary legal processes available under Ghanaian law whenever there is a material change in circumstances following a judicial order.

Meanwhile, lawyers of the former NAFCO CEO led by former A-G Godfred Yeboah Dame have filed an application at the High Court seeking an order to compel the Attorney-General to produce their client in court.

Aludiba was arrested on July 4 as he attempted to travel to the UK following the Court’s grant of his request.

His lawyers aver that following his arrest they have not had access to him.
