The industry sector is expanding on the strength of mining, and services remain the engine of growth, the Government Statistician, Dr Alhassan Iddrisu, has announced.
This increase can be attributed to the growth observed in the mining & quarrying sub-sectors.

Agriculture increased by 1.7 percent, according to the GSS. The industry sector expanded by 4.0 percent, and the services sector grew by 6.0 percent.

The services sector was the main contributor to April 2026 growth. The sector contributed 61.7 percent to the overall growth of 4.7 percent in economic activities. Industry contributed 29.9 percent while agriculture contributed 4.5 percent.

Agriculture increased by 1.7 percent between April 2025 and April 2026. This was driven by the crops and livestock subsector.

The Services sector grew by 6 percent between April 2025 and April 2026 as measured by the MIEG. This expansion in activity was mainly driven by the Information & Communication sub-sectors.
