National Security operatives have intercepted a large consignment of 250mg Tramadol during an intelligence-led operation at Nakpanduri in the Bunkprugu-Nakpanduri District of the North East Region.

The operation, carried out by a regional security team, followed a tip-off from an informant regarding the movement of suspected controlled substances into the area.

According to the regional security liaison officer, Mr. Ernest Bawanin, acting on this intelligence, the team mounted surveillance and positioned officers at around Nakpanduri.

This strategy allowed them to track and intercept the items. However, the suspect escaped before officers could arrest him but the consignment was seized.

The shipment contained 17 packs, totaling 170 boxes. With 10 blisters per box and 4 extra units, the total is 1,704 blisters.

According to the regional security liaison officer, Mr. Ernest Bawanin, authorities are conducting an investigation to identify and arrest the suspect responsible for the shipment.

He reiterated that the security team remains focused on stopping the movement of these substances to keep the region safe.
