The East Mamprusi Municipal NADMO has announced a possible spillage of the Bagre Dam in Burkina Faso, urging residents along the White Volta to adhere to safety precautions to mitigate potential challenges.
In a statement issued by the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) on Saturday, August 8, 2026, it said the Dam, according to the Water Resources Commission, has reached a level where a possible controlled spillage will be the only alternative, if the rising volume trend continues.
“The East Mamprusi Municipal NADMO wishes to alert all residents, particularly communities along the White Volta River, about a possible controlled spillage from the Bagre Dam in Burkina Faso,” portions of the statement indicate.
“The Water Resources Commission reports that the dam’s water level currently stands at 232.93 metres and could reach the spillage level of 234 metres,” it explained.
The statement explained that “controlled spillage may therefore begin from Tuesday, 11th August 2026, if the reservoir reaches the required level.”
The regional NADMO further urged residents along the White Volta to follow all safety precautions to avoid any eventualities.
“Residents are urged to remain vigilant, avoid unnecessary activities near the river, and follow safety instructions from NADMO and the appropriate authorities,” the statement concluded.
