The Ghana Police Service, working in collaboration with the National Signals Bureau (NSB) and specialized cyber units, has arrested two suspects in connection with separate videos containing inciteful and offensive remarks about Prophet Mohammed.
In the first case, police and the NSB apprehended 35-year-old Masud Abdullah, an Imam, after a video surfaced showing him advocating violence against individuals who speak ill of Prophet Mohammed. According to police reports, the suspect allegedly delivered the sermon containing the inciteful statements at a mosque in Ntensere, situated within the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti Region.
In a related development, the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team arrested Daniel Junior Yaw Adjei, also known as Apostle Daniel JY Adjei. His arrest followed a video in which he was seen making derogatory and offensive comments about Prophet Mohammed.
The police confirmed that investigations into both cases are actively ongoing, assuring the public that both suspects will be processed through the due legal system.
Following the arrests, the Ghana Police Service issued a firm reminder to the public—particularly religious leaders, preachers, community heads, and social media commentators—concerning constitutional rights and public safety.
The police emphasized that freedom of religion and expression must never be used to justify inciting violence or encouraging members of the public to harm others, warning that perpetrators of such infractions will face the full rigour of the law.
